HappyTire RC makes beautiful and unique custom pit and scale boards. These boards are cut from 3/8″ acrylic and etched with graphics of your choosing, then brightly illuminated with integrated LEDs and a system that offers extensive lighting control from a phone app. Each board has a bubble level and adjustable feet to adjust to uneven surfaces. These boards feature 26 LEDs and at max brightness appear colored by the lighting outdoors, bright in high indoor lighting, and vibrant in less lit environments. Note that LED counts will be reduced on smaller scale boards.
If you are mostly outdoors and want superior color and brightness, consider the “Maximum Lighting” option that uses a denser strip to pack 64 LEDs into the same space. This option ships without a power supply. You’ll need a 5V/4A power supply with 5.5×2.5mm plug like this one: Power Supply on Amazon.
There are three primary configurations. A “pit board” is a single uninterrupted board measuring 19-1/2″ x 15-1/4″. A “scale board” is built to hold and position a set of SkyRC scales in pockets positioned for car format(s) — 10th sedan, 2WD buggy, 8th buggy, etc — of your choice, with measurements minimized based on the required scale spacing. A “combo board” is the size of a pit board, adds the pockets for your scales like a scale board, and includes plugs for the holes so the board can also be flat and uninterrupted.
The graphics of your choosing will be etched on the backside of the main board, within the space constraints of the configuration. These elements light up brilliantly… you should include at least four different elements like name, car number, car or chassis graphic, and logo(s). I’ll do the layout of your elements and send you a picture for approval and limited changes. I prefer to include a car direction arrow on scale boards and always add a small HappyTire logo. Scale pockets are etched with a mark to indicate the proper scale for that pocket.
There are several options related to scales for scale and combo boards. Car formats determine the scale spacing range your board will accommodate. If you want a single car format, all four pockets will be identical. As the range required grows (from 2WD buggy to 8th buggy, for example), several scale holes are enlarged to allow the required positioning. Available formats are as small as you’d like to 8th buggies, no 8th truggy at this time. You can design your board to hold Bluetooth scales, wired scales, or both. Wired scales require a pass-through to the underside from each pocket for the scale’s wiring. Boards for wired scales also get a 5V output lead that connects to the wired head unit, powering it from the same supply that powers to board lighting. If you order a board with scales, I will email you to get car format.
The board lighting is controlled by an onboard computer running WLED, the market-leading solution for addressable LED lighting. The board creates a WiFi network to which you connect your phone. You can also put the board on your own network, which it will use when available instead of opening its own network. Once connected, you run the WLED phone application to access a full color palette, 256 brightness levels, patterns, timers, etc.
After you order, I will email about your graphics. The cost of the board does not include extensive graphical design services. I don’t mind doing a bit for you, but the more ready your graphics are the better. Engraving on acrylic is a monochrome process, so some things cannot be done effectively. With your prompt replies, most boards will ship in 7-10 days.
Pictures with my phone do not do these boards justice.
